Teams at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi tested RS-25 engine No. The hot fire test lasted for almost eight-and-a-half minutes (500 seconds), the same amount of time RS-25 engines fire during launch of NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket, with a 111% power level.
Blue Planet III is keeping the rough edges in the age of AI
BBC’s Blue Planet III is looking to prove its authenticity by leaving in the less-than-perfect shots. Previous incarnations of the nature series were defined by their gorgeous, crystal-clear footage that seemed almost too good to be real. Roman Sarcophagus at Westminster Abbey Likely Held Remains of Medieval Monk
LONDON, ENGLAND—According to a statement released by Taylor & Francis, human remains found in a Roman sarcophagus at Westminster Abbey in 1820 may have been identified by Warwick Rodwell, consultant archaeologist at Westminster Abbey. The sarcophagus is inscribed with the name of Valerius Amandinus, a wealthy Briton who lived between about A.D. A Latin cross dated to the tenth or eleventh century is also inscribed on the lid of the sarcophagus, however, suggesting that it may have been reused during the medieval period.

Webb image reveals young stars brewing in a nebulous cauldron
In this Picture of the Month from the NASA/ESA James Webb Space Telescope, we visit a turbulent cauldron of star formation to see what is brewing inside dense clumps of gas. This is a star-forming region named LHA 120-N 159, or simply N159, located 161,000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), one of the satellite galaxies orbiting the Milky Way galaxy.
This NASA Hubble Space Telescope image released on Oct. 16, 2026, features the edge-on, intermediate spiral galaxy NGC 1827, located roughly 37 million light-years away in the constellation Columba, the Dove. Hubble captured the image as part of a survey looking at 260 satellite galaxies around 22 Milky Way-like host galaxies within a radius of about 32 million light-years from Earth.
